Parent Meeting and Practice on Wednesday 9/3 – 8:00 PM

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to let you know that all of our teams will be practicing tomorrow (Wednesday 9/3) at 8:00 pm.

4th Grade – 8:00-9:00 PM – Main Gym  South

6th Grade – 8:00-10:00 PM – Main Gym North

7th Grade – 8:00-10:00 PM – Main Gym  South

8th Grade – 8:00-10:00 PM – Small Gym

There will also be a quick parent meeting at 8:00.  We will not take long, but we will go over everything that is going on and you will be able to ask any questions that you have.

At the meeting, I will be handing out shoe order forms, those will be due in about a week.

Also, I will hand out information about the Free Throw-athon fundraiser.  This could be a great thing for your players to get all of the money they need for the season.

Finally, if you haven’t confirmed your players spot on the team, please do so.  There are a lot of kids that are hoping for one of those spots.  On Thursday morning, I am giving unclaimed spots away, or finalizing teams without replacements.

If you have any questions, please contact me directly.

Thanks

Brian Allfrey

2014-2015 Grizzlies Youth Basketball Teams

Congratulations to all of the players listed below who have made a 2014-2015 Grizzlies Youth Basketball Team.

We would like to thank all of the players that tried out and encourage them to keep practicing and working on their game.  We had some really tough decisions to make, and it was not easy.

If your child is listed on one of our teams, we need you to do the following by Tuesday morning (9/2) @ 10:00 AM:

  • Email Brian Allfrey (ballfrey54@msn.com) to confirm your player’s spot on the team.
  • Include your player’s uniform size (jersey and shorts) and be sure to list youth or adult size.
  • Provide at least 3 number choices for their uniform.

Practices will start next week, and every player will be notified via email by Monday of their practice time.  That email will also include a parents letter (same information as on this site) and contact info for your coach.  If you have questions about your team before you get the email, please contact Brian Allfrey.

Important Notes for Tryout Participants

For those trying out on Wednesday and Thursday, please arrive at least 15 minutes early and quickly check in.  On Wednesday night, check in will be in the hallway outside of the gym.

I would recommend that all players wear an old shirt with their names written on them.  This helps us to know all of the player and makes the tryout process easier.

Fundraising Opportunities for Grizzlies Youth Basketball

We are pleased to announce that Grizzlies Youth Basketball will be holding the First Annual Free Throwathon in early to mid-September.  Will have date locked down this week.

This event will feature each youth player shooting 100 free throws (younger ages will move in closer).  All players will take part in shooting, but those that are interested will solicit pledges for each free throw that they make.  The pledges will range from $0.10 to $2.00 per foul shot.  The more pledges you get and the more shots you make, the more money you raise to pay for your basketball fees.

The best part is that 100% of the money raised goes directly to your son and his fees.  Each player will solicit his own pledges/donations and collect his own money.

We will provide more detail in the coming days as well as a pledge sheet for each player to use.  We also be giving away prizes and posting photos and videos from our free throwathon event.

This is simply a way to help raise money.  We will do 1-2 more player optional fundraising events throughout the season, with all donations going straight to your kids.

Please contact me with any questions.  Thanks
